Effective Sunday, March 29, 2020, at 11:00 AM, Holy Redeemer MCC will host worship services online via the Zoom platform. Zoom allows for multiple participants from throughout the area and offers the opportunity to connect to worship from the comfort of your own home.
Please know that this decision has not been made from a place of panic but rather from a place of precaution, as we consider ways to ensure that our church family remains safe during this COVID-19 season. Electing to worship and meet creatively, but not in person, helps to reduce and slow the spread of the virus. It also creates a way for us to pray and worship together on Sunday mornings and maintain our connectedness to one another.
We hope that you will join Reverend Tredwell and our church family for this wonderful experience. This is also our first online Sunday worship service in the history of Holy Redeemer MCC, so you will definitely be in for a treat.
Holy Redeemer MCC church is located in College Park, Maryland and held its first worship service on February 28,1998. Holy Redeemer is a member of the Metropolitan Community Churches. Founded in 1968, Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) has been at the vanguard of civil and human rights movements by addressing issues of race, gender, sexual orientation, economics, climate change, aging, and global human rights. MCC was the first to perform same-gender marriages and has been on the forefront of the struggle towards marriage equality in the USA and other countries worldwide.
MCC recognizes a state of need around the world in the areas of human rights and justice including but not limited to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community. As people of faith, MCC endeavors to build bridges that liberate and unite voices of sacred defiance. MCC leads from the margins and transforms. We’re very glad that you have taken this opportunity to learn more about who we are as a people and community of faith! We hope that you find our community to be a blessing, and welcome you to become a part of our family. Our goal is to make this a place where you can welcome Christ into your heart and into your life, and embark on a new spiritual journey toward wholeness, or grow deeper in Christ if you are already on such a journey. We invite you to join us after our Sunday worship for refreshments and fellowship. Please use this opportunity to get to know our community and the diversity we celebrate. Feel free to ask questions, enjoy fellowship, and explore the possibilities we offer.
